Odinga, who remained a major force in the nation's political landscape for a long period, passed away on midweek at age 80 while undergoing healthcare in the Asian nation.

Thousands followers congregated on thoroughfares from sunrise, with mayhem occurring when massive group breached a gate at the capital's primary venue, causing soldiers to shoot skyward.

Groups also flooded adjacent streets and tried to enter parliament, where the government had initially planned the community homage.

National Legacy and Community Backing

While predominantly identified as an political challenger, Odinga became prime minister in 2008 and also formed a political pact with the president last year in a career defined by changing partnerships.

He generated intense commitment among supporters, particularly in his Luo community based in western Kenya, many of whom maintain he was denied the highest office by vote manipulation.
